A long elliptical copper bowl with transparent amethyst glass enamel and pure silver design inlaid. Approximately 6 firings were necessary to create this lovely and interesting bowl. The design is cut out by hand of fine (pure) silver foil. The individual pieces are carefully laid down on a fired base coat of enamel, like pieces of a puzzle.  The design is reminiscent of rocks or bones, a theme Pauline used for a series of enameled works. After the foil is fired on to the base coat, 2 layers of amethyst colored enamel are fired on one at a time. The foil beneath the transparent enamel has a jewel like quality.
