This stunning sterling silver and rutilated quartz necklace was inspired by the Japanese
inro, a small container hung from an obi belt.

The lid of the vessel has a hand cut and polished rutilated quartz of unusual quality and design. The gem cutter used extreme skill in cutting the specimen in a manner that would expose the rutiles in a crisscross pattern. It is a lovely high dome cabochon.

The lid slips up and down the snake chain to open and close the personal vessel.

The entire piece has a pattern created by impressing a hand drawn and etched design into the silver. The sterling is dramatic as it is oxidized to a gun metal grey.
