Low relief repousse’ is an ancient technique. These earrings are sterling silvered with an oxidized finish.
Metal is placed in a tar like substance, called pitch. The metal is then worked with small refined tools to stretch it gradually according to the design drawn / transferred onto it. When the proper amount of metal is recessed the top surface is then textured for accent and dramatic affect.
